Highlights:
PARENT & VISITOR ADMITTANCE
All parents and visitors should come to the office, sign in, and receive a visitor’s badge.
MONEY
Students should not bring money to school unless it is for lunches or at the school’s request.
UPDATE CONTACT INFORMATION
Parents need to notify the office any time there is a change of address or a new phone number for home or work. This is neccessary to have in the event of an illness or injury. Emergency numbers must be provided.
PRIVACY ACT
State Law (Section 24-102 of Title 70) gives school administrators and teachers the right to examine the contents of student lockers, desks or other property in order to properly supervise the welfare of pupils.
MARK YOUR BELONGINGS
All lunch containers, backpacks and clothing should be marked with the name of the owner. Items collected in Lost and Found, which go unclaimed, will be given to a local charity at the end of the school year.
SCHOOL PARTIES
Three school parties will be held during the year: Fall, Winter and Friendship. There is not an end of the year party. Only Kindergarten students may celebrate a birthday at school after consulting with their classroom teacher. All students birthdays will be recognized during Eagle Beat. Personal party invitations should not be distributed at school.
CLOSING SCHOOL
Oklahoma severe weather makes it necessary at times to close school. Area television and radio stations will alert the public when this decision has been made. Early dismissal is not a common practice in the Edmond School System due to the inconvenience it would cause working parents.
INSURANCE
Edmond Public Schools makes accident insurance available to all students. The school system is not financially responsible for the cost of any accidental injury occurring from a school activity.
DELIVERY OF MESSAGES TO STUDENTS
Messages for students during school hours are discouraged. After school plans should be made before school. Messages will be delivered at the end of the school day or at a convenient time for the office staff. Messages should be called in before 2:45. We cannot guarantee that messages called in after 2:45 will be delivered before dismissal.
TELEPHONE USE
A telephone is available to students for EMERGENCY use only. Students must have a phone pass from their teacher before using the phone. Students should make their afterschool plans prior to coming to school. Students cannot be called from their classroom to take a phone call.
FLOWER/GIFT DELIVERIES
Delivery of items such as flowers, balloons, cookie baskets etc… are discouraged due to the disruption that it causes to the instructional day.
LUNCH
Students are expected to eat lunch during their scheduled lunch time at school. If a parent is planning to bring a student a lunch or take them out to lunch, it must be done before/as the student’s lunch time begins or the student will be expected to eat in the cafeteria.
MAKE UP WORK
Teachers are not expected to provide make-up work on the day of a students absence. The make-up work will be provided the day after the absence or when the student returns to school. Teachers are not expected to provide make-up work for students that are planning to be absent from school (trips). Make-up work will be provided when the student returns.
DISMISSAL
Students should go to their assigned door for dismissal [Kindergarten & siblings: South Door; First and Second: Front Door; Third, Fourth & Fifth: North Door]. Students with siblings should go to the door of the youngest student at dismissal time.
